The Carroll County Panthers faced a tough matchup against the Eminence Warriors on January 17, resulting in a 69-39 defeat. Despite the challenging outcome, several players demonstrated resilience and effort throughout the game, providing moments of promise for the team's development. Scoring and Key Performances Freshman Hunter Dalton led the Panthers with 13 points, showcasing his versatility by shooting 42.9% from the field and grabbing a team-high 9 rebounds. Senior Cooper Gutman added 14 points, including an impressive 5-for-6 performance at the free-throw line, while also pulling down 8 rebounds. Junior Dustin Battaglia contributed 8 points and shot 50% from beyond the arc. The Panthers struggled offensively, shooting just 28.8% overall and 18.2% from three-point range. Gutman and Dalton combined for the team’s four successful three-pointers, while other players found it challenging to connect from long range. On the boards, Carroll County showed strength, recording 38 total rebounds, with Jackson Kyle (7 rebounds) and Karson Vaught (6 rebounds) stepping up defensively. Areas for Growth Turnovers and shooting efficiency hindered Carroll County’s ability to close the gap. The team attempted 22 three-pointers but converted only four, and their 50% free-throw shooting (5-for-10) left points on the board. Sophomore Rylan Kinman, despite his effort, struggled offensively, going 0-for-7 from the field. The Panthers will look to regroup and refine their strategy as they prepare for their next game against Shelby County on January 21. With young talent like Dalton and solid senior leadership from Gutman, the team has the potential to bounce back and finish the season strong.
